For composers leaving TRQK

Looking for a TRQK alternative?

TRQK gave composers two things: it detected music on TV and radio, and it made sense of what the societies paid. When it wound down, composers lost both at once.

Detection is coming soon. It is the half ONTRK is built around, and it is not switched on yet, so today ONTRK cannot tell you about an airing your statement never mentioned. If detection is what you need this week, TuneSat is the service composers on VI-Control name most often. If you can wait, the statement side below is live now and detection joins it.

What ONTRK does today is the other half, and it is the half most composers never had a decent tool for even while TRQK was running: reading the statement you already have.

What you can use this afternoon

  • •Read any statement, free, with no account. Drop in the CSV your society exports. Eighteen formats across twelve societies are recognised automatically, including ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, PRS, SOCAN, GEMA, MLC and SoundExchange. It runs in your browser and answers in about a minute.
  • •See what each cue actually earned by work, by show, by channel and by territory, instead of scrolling a hundred pages of line items.
  • •Find the programme behind the money. Societies leave the channel blank on most cable, syndicated and foreign money, but they usually name the show. That is where the majority of a composer's income actually comes from, and almost nothing surfaces it.
  • •Keep every statement in one place, across societies and across your own companies, so a quarter can be compared with the same quarter last year rather than re-read from scratch.

If you already have detection data

If you kept exports from TRQK, or you run TuneSat now, ONTRK will reconcile them against the statement that settles the same period: matched per cue, per quarter, and flagged where an airing was never paid for. That works today, because the airings come from your file rather than from us.

What it costs

Reading one statement is free and needs no account. $9 a month reads every statement you own and keeps the history. Detection is coming and is not on sale yet. A few founder seats are open now, at a founder rate, with nothing charged.

Common questions

Is ONTRK a direct TRQK replacement?

Not yet, and soon. TRQK detected airings; ONTRK reads statements. They overlap on reconciliation, which ONTRK does today. Detection is coming, so if you can work without it for now, everything else is already here.

What happened to TRQK?

TRQK announced it was winding down its service. Composers who relied on it for TV and radio detection have been looking for somewhere to go since, which is how most people arrive at this page.

Which societies can ONTRK read?

ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, PRS, SOCAN, GEMA, SACEM, SIAE, TONO, JASRAC, the MLC and SoundExchange are recognised automatically. Any other society or royalty stream can be mapped by pointing out its columns once, and that mapping is remembered.

Do I have to upload anything to try it?

No. The free statement reader runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account to create. If you later want statements kept and compared across quarters, that is what the paid plan does.

Will detection be added?

Yes. It is the second half the product is built around, and it is coming. There is no date to give you yet, and this page will not invent one. When it arrives it will be priced by how many cues are watched, never by what you earn.

Who makes this

ONTRK is built by Marc Aaron Jacobs, a composer who runs the libraries Tonal Chaos and Tonal Chaos Trailers, and who built DropCue, the music delivery tool used by composers and libraries. ONTRK started as the thing he wrote to read his own ASCAP statements, which run to tens of thousands of lines a quarter. Every part of it exists because a statement would not answer a question he needed answered.

Questions go to hello@ontrk.app and reach him directly.
