Looking for a TuneSat alternative?
By Marc Aaron Jacobs · Updated
ONTRK is an alternative to TuneSat for composers who also want to know what got paid. Its statement reader works today, free, and its TV detection for the US, UK, Europe, Canada and Australia is coming soon, so if you need detection this week, TuneSat is still the service composers name most often.
We couldn't find a plain list of TuneSat alternatives anywhere, so here's ours. It's written by the people who make ONTRK, so weigh it that way. It sticks to what each option does and who it suits.
What TuneSat does
TuneSat is a detection service. It fingerprints your music, listens to broadcast, and tells you where it aired. That's the half of the job your royalty statement can't do, because a statement only lists what your society paid.
For what TuneSat covers and charges today, ask TuneSat. This page won't speak for them. For a side-by-side of the two, see TuneSat and ONTRK compared.
The options, side by side
| Option | What it does, and who it suits |
|---|---|
| TuneSat | Detects airings of your music and reports them. Suits composers who need detection now. |
| ONTRK | Reads your statements from ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, PRS, SOCAN, GEMA, the MLC and more and checks airings you already have against them. TV detection is coming soon. Suits composers who want to know what was missed, not only what aired. |
| Your society's records | Your statements and the cue sheets on file show what your society knows about. Free, and it's where every claim ends up. |
| A library airing report | Some libraries send their composers reports of where tracks aired. Suits composers with most of their music in one library. |
| A TRQK export | What TRQK caught before it closed in August 2026. No new airings. Suits former TRQK users with statements still to come. See what happened to TRQK. |
Why detection alone isn't the whole answer
A detection service tells you what aired. Your statement tells you what was paid. Neither one tells you what was missed. That takes the two lists side by side, matched cue by cue on the statement that settles each airing's quarter.
One composer who compared his detected TV placements against his BMI statements going back to 2021 found about 15% of them unpaid. See why a TV placement goes unpaid.
If you run TuneSat, you don't have to choose. Drop a TuneSat export next to a statement on the reconciliation page and ONTRK checks every airing against it, using your own file.
How to choose
- •You need to know where your music airs, starting now. TuneSat. ONTRK's detection is coming soon, and this page won't pretend otherwise.
- •You already have airing data and want to know what was paid. ONTRK. Its statement reader is free, needs no account, and reads the file in your browser.
- •You want to know if your statement looks right. Start with the free statement reader and the guide for your society, like how to read a BMI statement.
- •You lost TRQK. Save your airing videos first, because the links expire. Here's what to do.
Common questions
What is the best alternative to TuneSat?
It depends on the job. For detection today, TuneSat itself is the one composers name most. For checking what was paid against what aired, ONTRK does that today with any airing export, and its own TV detection is coming soon.
Is ONTRK the same as TuneSat?
No. TuneSat detects airings. ONTRK reads your statements and checks airings against them, and its own detection is coming soon.
Can I use TuneSat and ONTRK together?
Yes. Drop a TuneSat export and a statement into ONTRK and it matches them cue by cue, on the statement that settles each airing's quarter.
Is TRQK still an alternative to TuneSat?
No. TRQK shut down in August 2026, according to users' public reports. See what happened to TRQK.
What does ONTRK cost?
The statement reader is free and needs no account. Monitoring is priced separately when it opens.
